Marian Haigh
Marian
Haigh has a B.F.A. from Arkansas State University and has been working
in the ceramic field for over 25 years. Her handbuilt vessels are
exhibited nationally and are included in museum, corporate and private
collections. Her porcelain and stoneware are fired in a wood kiln
or soda fired in a gas kiln. Marian lives in Austin, Texas with her husband
and a very bad cat.

I watch the rhythms and patterns
of the natural world. Smooth river rocks, eroded mud banks, spiraling
leaves falling to the ground and birds that look up to decide when it is
time to fly show me timeless cycles of life, death and rebirth. Within
this framework I seek to express feelings I do not often understand--longings
for strength and beauty or perhaps the desire to explain painful steps
I wish to take or an understanding of numinous dreams that seem like a
gift.
