Mother's Day weekend of 2004 will the mark the charter tour of an event that we plan to persue into the future, introducing those who love pots and pottery to these potter's daily lives that represent our love of clay.

The core group of clay artists consists of five Austin potters, Lisa Orr, Claudia Reese, Marian Haigh, Ryan McKerley and Rebecca Roberts who represent over 150 combined years of loving and creating special pots to share with the world.
All of these names are immediately familiar to anyone in Central Texas who is even casually interested in pottery or ceramic sculpture, but everyone interested in clay is also aware of the fact that in this metropolitan community of a million people, public recognition and awareness of fine ceramic art needs to be significantly increased to keep pace with Austin's dynamic growth over the past half century.
It is hoped that this tour will make significant progress
toward that goal. The nationally known visiting artists will bring
top examples of today's ceramic art and underscore the fact that Austin
is home to some of the world's best potters.

As an additional art treat, Colorado based Alleghany Meadows
will bring an additional pottery experience to the streets of Austin during
the Austin Ceramic Studio Tour with his "ArtStream"
mobile clay gallery. Saturday and Sunday, his gallery will be located
at Lisa Orr's studio, but check back here as Mother's Day approaches to
learn about his planned display locations around Austin before and after
the tour.
